Racing Yacht Alignment Investigation — South Coast
THE CHALLENGE:
A racing yacht team had concerns about keel and mast alignment following handling characteristics that didn’t match the design intent. A definitive answer was needed before committing to potentially expensive remediation work.
OUR SOLUTION:
Nautidata carried out a full 3D laser scan of the yacht, capturing precise geometry of the keel, mast step, hull and structural elements. Alignment data was processed and compared against the original design specification by a team with direct racing and marine engineering experience.
THE OUTCOME:
The scan confirmed the structure was correct. The perceived misalignment was identified as a visual misinterpretation caused by an asymmetric deck fitting. Expensive and unnecessary remediation was avoided entirely.
